The first edition of Afternoon Five with Myrta Merlin the hosting ended with the episode of June 14th (at least the traditional version, because from June 17th we find Afternoon Five Summer): the presenter wanted to thank us for the adventure she began in Mediaset at the beginning of the year. The certificate of esteem from Pier Silvio Berlusconi is not lacking, so we will see the presenter at the helm of the program again in the 2024/2025 television season.
Myrta Merlino closes Afternoon Five: final farewells
What a fantastic story life is (unforgettable song by Antonello Venditti) in the background in the studio, and the sincere thanks of Myrta Merlino for the public who chose and followed her after taking over from Barbara D’Urso. The balance sheet is positive, according to the words of Pier Silvio Berlusconi: there is no reason not to continue along this line. And in fact the presenter took her leave Afternoon Five with a promise.
“We have reached the end of this race, of this real marathon. In every self-respecting marathon, consistency counts, momentum counts, every centimeter of the road we run together counts”, the journey has been important, many changes have been made and the results have arrived, over time. “We told life as it is, we have explored the news in every aspect. We always gave all the news, that beautiful and those uglyeven those that were not liked by those directly involved, because we are journalists and that’s what we have to do.”
The new editorial line of Afternoon Five has received positive (and otherwise) criticism: like any change, it takes time to assimilate it, keeping in mind that for years the Canale5 audience has had D’Urso as a point of reference. “Many of you have accompanied us and believed in this new course of Afternoon Five. AND I want to thank you. I am proud to have entered your home and your lives. I thank the publisher, the companythe whole squad which made us able to stay here for 200 episodes.”
Will Myrta Merlino return to host Afternoon Five?
The sixteenth season of Afternoon Five began with a big break compared to the past: a lot was renewed, but the share eventually stabilized (without ever large peaks), despite the initial problems (such as the replacement of the director). So much so that Pier Silvio Berlusconi himself, inmeeting with the press in June 2024, said: “We have no reason not to reconfirm her as director”, referring precisely to Merlino.
When Afternoon Five Summer begins
“For this great adventure, I thank you and embrace you. See you very, very soon,” Myrta Merlino said in her final goodbyes, and there is no reason to think she won’t be back in September. From June 17th, Simona Branchetti takes over from Myrta Merlino: the summer version of Afternoon Five will keep the public company throughout the summer. The appointment is daily, from Monday to Friday, from 5pm to 6.45pm. There is only one detail worth noting: no “see you in September” writing. Probably because the program continuesand there is no doubt, in any case, about the face we will find again in autumn.
