Season 5 will be the last!

Creator Eric Kripke announced this on X, two days before the debut of season 4 on Prime Video.

A few hours before the debut of the highly anticipated fourth season, Thursday 13 June on Prime Video with the first three episodes, the creator of The Boys Eric Kripke triggers panic among numerous fans by announcing in a message about X that the already announced fifth season will be the last of the superhero series.

The Boys will end with season 5

“The week of the season 4 premiere of The Boys it’s a good time to announce: season 5 will be the final season!”, wrote Kripke a few minutes ago. “It was always my plan, I just had to be cautious until I got the final okay from Vought. I’m excited to bring the story to a bloody, epic, wet climax. Watch season 4 in two days, because the end has begun!”.

Prime Video had formalized the renewal of The Boys for a fifth episode cycle about a month ago. On that occasion, Kripke declared: “The Boys it might be the best job I’ll ever have. What other show lets me write about politics, capitalism, family, and genitals exploding, not necessarily in that order? The cast and crew are deeply grateful to Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios for the opportunity to tell this story for another season. My only problem is that since this year’s promise is to be free from any conflict or misinformation, we’re not sure what to write.”

Just a week ago, interviewed by GamesRadarthe writer and executive producer had said instead that, since he originally saw Supernatural (the other series he created) end after five seasons (and not 15, as happened), “I would be crazy to speculate on how many seasons a show should last. I won’t make the same mistake again. But yes, I have an ending in mind.”
