Co-creator Eric Kripke also revealed that the upcoming fourth season of The Boys will build a bridge to the spinoff’s second season.

The co-creator and executive producer of Gen V Eric Kripke provided more precise details on how the spin-off of The Boys will justify the absence of Andre Anderson in the upcoming second season following the tragic death of his interpreter, Chance Perdomo.

Gen V: What will happen to Andre in season 2?

Last March 29, 27-year-old Perdomo died following a motorcycle accident. The actor was traveling through New York State on his way to Toronto to begin filming the second season of Gen V. A few weeks later, the series’ producers released a statement informing that they would not be reassigning the role of Andre, but that they would be taking “the time and space to rework the stories of the second season”, adding that “we will honor Chance and inherit of him”. Now, three weeks into filming, Kripke has revealed a TVLine what should we expect.

The co-creator confirmed that the Super played by Perdomo will also be dead, when Gen V will return for season 2. “First of all, it’s so incredibly tragic, and my love goes out to his family,” Kripke said. “We’re not trying to replace him because we can’t. We’re going to chronicle the character’s death on the show. So it’s going to be very heavy and really emotionally difficult for the cast. We just want to honor Chance as best we can.”

Gen V and The Boys increasingly connected

Speaking about the new season, Kripke teased that it will be “really intense. It’s fun to find your feet in the second season of a show and really start digging into the story and the characters.” Clearly, she couldn’t spoil anything — but she said she’ll pick up from last November’s cliffhanger finale, which saw Marie (Jaz Sinclair), Jordan (London Thor And Derek Luh), Andre and Emma (Lizze Broadway) trapped in a sealed room in an unknown location -, because it would ruin the surprise for those who are impatiently awaiting the imminent debut of season 4 of The Boys (streaming on June 13th on Prime Video every Thursday).

Kripke said that, just like the ending of Gen V connects to the new season of The Boysafter Billy Butcher’s discovery of the Super-killing virus, the return of the spin-off “is linked to the season 4 finale of The Boys“. The producer also spent a few words on Cipher, the new dean of Godolkin University played by the recent addition to the cast Hamish Linklater. “It’s really scary,” she teased. “I’ve wanted to work with Hamish forever. He was incredible at Midnight Mass. You play a very complicated and mysterious character. I’m excited for people to see it.”
