the tumor, the denied service status and the case “stopped at INAIL”

Something on Rai it’s already moving after the denunciation made by Franco Di Mare, on Sunday, with an interview with the Corriere and with a direct one to Che tempo che fa sul Nove, against the public company. The former director of Rai3 and presenter spoke about his illness: a mesothelioma which would have contracted during war missions, followed by a correspondent for Rai, coming into contact with asbestos. Di Mare, live from Fazio, denounced the Rai top management, explicitly referring to the “previous managements” of the public company.

The Rai managers to whom Di Mare refers

From a simple reconstruction, it appears that the reference is aimed at those of Fabrizio Salini (2018-2021) and Carlo Fuortes (2021-2023)whose personnel and legal managers were respectively Felice Ventura and Francesco Spadafora.

The journalist’s accusation against Rai is that it did not follow up on his requests to obtain “service status”, i.e the certification of the missions carried out, on the basis of which reconstruct the diagnosis and ask for damages.

From a first partial reconstruction of the story, it appears that Salini was aware of the situation: the CEO who left in July 2021, when Di Mare’s illness had just emerged, was out of term, and it is likely that in his last 3-4 months of office he left the practice to his successor. In 2021 Franco Di Mare, who retired, was driving Borders on Rai3, a program he continued to direct until May 2023. As for Fuorteshere too there are contacts with Di Mare during his two-year period of management: the matter would have been forwarded by the CEO to the relevant offices.

The case is stopped at INAIL: «And the transaction request is suspended»

The reconstruction of what happened is now in the care of the CEO Roberto Sergio and the CEO Giampaolo Rossi, who have already ensured their maximum availability. Investigations are underway, but from the first reconstructions made by the Corriere, it would appear that Di Mare’s case would have passed the phase that is the responsibility of Rai, that is, it would remain with Inail, the body that should certify the causal link between the trips and the onset of the illness. As for the request for settlement, initiated in the meantime by Di Mare’s lawyers against Rai, before knowing the outcome of the case, would have been suspended by the company pending Inail certification, without which it would not be able to start any liquidation to avoid the risk of incurring tax damage.
