Antonio Cometti, a 25-year-old boy, stabbed his mother Marina Mouritch, a 53-year-old Italian of Latvian origin, in the early afternoon yesterday, Wednesday 23 November 2022, and then hid the body in a black garbage bag in the kitchen home. It happened in the center of Gabiano Monferrato, in the Alessandria area. After the incident, the boy went to the nearby Carabinieri barracks to turn himself in, with blood still on his clothes.
The soldiers of the Casale Monferrato company, led by Captain Valerio Azzone, and of the scientific investigations unit of the provincial command of Alessandria found the body and, in the house, also the knife used to kill the woman, with a blade of about 30 centimeters . It is not said that it was the only weapon used in the assassination. Clear signs of defense were found on the woman’s body. According to the coroner who intervened on her spot, a stab wound in the neck that severed her jugular was fatal. The farmhouse has been confiscated.
The public prosecutor Anna Caffarena of the Vercelli prosecutor’s office, who coordinates the investigations, ordered an autopsy on the body. Previously, there were no disagreements or altercations between mother and son, who had been followed for some time by the psychiatric services of Casale Monferrato and also by a private professional for previous depressive crises. Assisting him now is the lawyer Fabrizio Amatelli.
At the time of the incident, the woman’s husband and father of the boy, Pasquale Cometti, who works on the farm of the nearby castle and is now upset, was not at home. The man has found hospitality with some friends in these tragic days.
