Sardinia. Sardinia yesterday, Sunday 30 June, was the scene of 13 fires, some of which required the intervention of the regional fleet’s aircraft to be put out. Here are the details of the most serious episodes:
- Nuoro, “Carceri Nuove” locality The fire broke out in the countryside of the Municipality of Nuoro and saw an intense extinguishing effort coordinated by the staff of the Nuoro Forestry Corps Station. The fight against the flames was supported by helicopters from the CFVA bases of Anela, Farcana, and by the SuperPuma from the Fenosu base. The air vehicle operations concluded successfully at 5.26pm.
2. Osidda, locality “Sant’Angelo” Another large fire has hit the countryside of the municipality of Osidda. The coordination of the firefighting operations was entrusted to the staff of the Forestry Corps Station, supported by the SuperPuma helicopter from the CFVA base in Alà dei Sardi. Three teams from the Forestas Agency intervened on the field, a team from the Sanluri Fire Brigade, the volunteers from the Civil Protection of San Gavino, Guspini and Assemini, and the Barracelli from Villacidro. The air operations ended at 5.42pm.
3. Nurri, “Taccu” locality In the countryside of the municipality of Nurri, the fire required a massive deployment of forces. The staff of the Isili Forestry Corps Station, supported by the helicopter from the Villasalto CFVA base, coordinated the firefighting operations. On the ground, in addition to the GAUF of Cagliari, a team from the Forestas Agency of Isili, a team of volunteers from the Civil Protection of Isili, a municipal team of Orroli and a team of the Fire Brigade of Mandas operated. The air operations ended at 4.57pm.
Yesterday once again highlights the vulnerability of the Sardinian territory to fires, especially during the summer season. The local authorities thank all the teams and volunteers who participated in the firefighting operations for their tireless work and invite the population to keep their guard up, respecting the regulations in force to prevent further outbreaks.
