Fire Sunday for mountain rescue, interventions throughout the province

Around 3.30pm yesterday, Sunday 30 June, the Treviso emergency helicopter intervened at the Pian de Fontana Refuge in Longarone, where a 67-year-old woman from Longaronewho was with her husband and friends, had fallen ill and was unable to walk.

After an initial check-up by the doctor, the woman was put on a stretcher, recovered with a 15-metre winch and transported to the Belluno hospital for checks.

Shortly before, around 2pm, the 118 emergency centre alerted the Alpago Alpine Rescue team for a hiker with a suspected ankle fracture under Col Nudo at 2,040 meters above sea level. Unable to carry out the recovery due to the presence of clouds, the Suem helicopter of Pieve di Cadore in two rotations embarked 4 rescuers and left them at 1,650 meters above sea level, to then be diverted to a red code.

It was therefore the Air Service Center helicopter that transported 3 other rescuers to altitude in support of the operations. In the meantime, the first team reached the injured man on foot, a fifty-year-old from Monastier (TV), and placed him on the stretcherThe seven rescuers then lowered the stretcher for 300 meters until, at 1,750 meters, the clouds lifted and the Suem air ambulance was able to intervene, which took charge of the stretcher with the winch, and then took the man to the hospital in Belluno.

The rescuers, together with their uninjured companion, were brought back to the valley by the Air service center helicopter.

After 7 pm the helicopter of the Aiut Alpin Dolomites of Bolzano managed to locate and recover two 26-year-old English hikers, who lost their trail in the Ciadin del Laudo area, ended up stuck inside a narrow canal. Once found by the crew, not without difficulty, the two boys were hoisted on board by the helicopter rescue technician with a 50 meter winch.
