OVADA – The scenario around Acqui – Genoa is a real emergency. The line that connects the two territorial realities of lower Piedmont and the Stura Valley with the Ligurian capital is suffering an added communication deficit to the problems linked to the limitations foreseen in the months of July and August for extraordinary maintenance works financed with the Pnrr.
Controversy also fueled by continuous problems on the line. As recently as two days ago a freight stopped between Rossiglione and Ovadaat the height of the iron bridge. Traffic disruption on the line and also on the 456 del Turchino road blocked at the third level crossing.
All these reasons have pushed the Valli Stura and Orba Transport Committee to ask, supported by the mayors of the area, for an urgent meeting. «We want to discuss – explains the president Fabio Ottonello – exclusively about the problems of this period. The advance of the timetables issued a few days ago has created a lot of confusion. It is not clear how the service will be managed. And users need this information”.
Contingent difficulties
The emergency on the Acqui – Genoa line involves a service modulated at different times depending on the construction phases on the line. The replacement service set up by Trenitalia provides different solutions. But these solutions are not in sight, in detail, from the scheduled time. «You don’t understand – continues Ottonello – which races leave from Ovada and which from Campo Ligure. It is not clear which line passes through Sestri Ponente and which goes to the centre. And we don’t know what happened to the idea of diverting trains from Borzoli towards Voltri.”
Commuters don’t question it the necessity and the opportunity to continue the extraordinary maintenance plan started last year.
