Incredible, exciting, thrilling and even moving is the story of Marco LinguaItalian specialist in hammer throwwith an even complicated personal competitive history which, a 46 years old celebrated last June 4th, she always has the enthusiasm to continue training in the little free time she has available, as she is no longer a professional athlete, and she still manages to be at the national top of her discipline, as confirmed by yet another Italian title won today at Spiceon the inaugural day of the absolutes, the second of 2024 after the one in the winter championships, and the eighteenth overall of his very long career, remembering that the first was way back in 2005.
The victory came with one last throw to 69.66 meterswith which he took the lead from Giorgio Olivieri who had been leading up to that point with 69.62, while Davide Costa was third with 69.33.
In the best moment ever in the history of Italian athletics, it is right to remember how, going back just 7 years to the 2017 World Championships in London, Lingua obtained the best placing of the entire Italian team in the races inside the Stadium, thanks to reaching the final and finishing tenth.
