The world of sport is in mourning, Italy has lost a very important figure: he died in a road accident
He was not “just” an athlete. He was the father of two children aged 1 and 5, in addition to being one of the third strongest in the Bel Paese. He had been playing in Serie A for a very long time and was, since his debut, one of the leading figures of the national tambourine. Today, Italy mourns the loss of a great champion, a man who made himself appreciated, over the years, for his hard work and for the smiles he gave to everyone, wherever he went.
Federico Gasperettiaged 34, has left an immense void. A road accident in his Tuennoa municipality in the province of Trento, cost him his life and, unfortunately, there was nothing that could be done. Member of the Melinda consortium, as well as vice-president of the cooperative Frutticoltori associati Tuenno, during this championship he defended the colours of the Solferino. Before arriving in Lombarda he treated himself to an experience in Cavaion which further strengthened his aptitude for sport.
He played in Veneto for several seasons, enjoying, among other things, the satisfaction of winning a championship. The last tricolor of his palmares was won with the Mantua team Castellaro, while in 2016 he had touched the sky with a finger by winning the World in Medole with the Italian national team. One of the greatest joys of his career, without a doubt.
The world of sport mourns: farewell to Federico Gasperetti
After the road accident on Friday evening, obviously, the match that should have had Solferino and Cavrianese as protagonists was postponed. On the championship day, however, on all the other fields it was observed, as is necessary in these circumstances, a minute of silence.
The funeral will be held on Monday in Federico’s hometown, Tuenno, where everyone will be able to remember the champion and the loving father he was. The world of sport is shocked and so is, obviously, the Italian Palla e Tamburello Federation, which dedicated beautiful words to Gasperetti.
“His smile, his friendliness, his determination and his great instinct, which made him one of the strongest full-backs of the last twenty years, leave us an immense void and a great sadness“, we read on the official website on one of the saddest days in the history of this sport.
