This afternoon, around 5pm, the Vignola Fire Brigade intervened at the Modena south motorway toll booth for an unusual and delicate rescue. A three-month-old kitten was trapped in the engine compartment of a car.

The accident

While the car, a VW Polo, was in a queue a few meters from the toll booth, the little feline darted between the cars, slipping into the wheel arch of the Polo and taking refuge in the engine compartment. The episode immediately attracted the attention of those present, who alerted the emergency services.

The intervention of the firefighters

The Fire Department team took about an hour to free the kitten, operating with great precision and delicacy. To reach the animal, it was necessary to lift the car using pneumatic cushions, dismantle the wheel, the wheel arch, the headlight and the bumper. In the end, the kitten was recovered safe and sound and placed in a special cage.

Intervention by the Highway Police and the Cattery

The traffic police subsequently contacted the staff of the local cattery, who verified the excellent health of the little animal. The kitten was then taken to the facility to be cared for.
