The award ceremony for Sonia Bergamasco (photo courtesy), winner of the Gian Maria Volonté Award for Artistic Excellence 2024, will take place in La Maddalena on July 28, on the stage of the “Lia Origoni” theater (Fortezza dei Colmi), as part of the 21st edition of the “La Valigia dell’attore” festival.
This year’s award goes, the organizers write, “to one of the most versatile Italian actresses on the contemporary scene who, with the size of her many talents – demonstrated in various contexts and forms of entertainment, including cinema, theater, music and television – has been able to build a solid and varied career, without ever losing sight of the quality of her performances.”
The latest edition, last year’s, saw the double assignment of the “Gian Maria Volonté” prize to the “artistic excellence” of Ficarra and Picone, and to the “artistic excellence” of the actor Filippo Timi.
This year’s edition, the 21st, also celebrates the thirtieth anniversary of the death of Gian Maria Volonté, to whom the event is dedicated, who died on December 6, 1994, in Greece, where he was acting in his last film. And it is no coincidence that this year’s edition will take place in 2 phases, the first in the summer, as usual, from July 26 to 28 and the second from December 6, the date of Volonté’s death, to the 8th.
