The team from the Spanish capital has won six “Big Ears Cups” in the last ten years, managing to remain at the highest levels even with a significant generational turnover. From Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Benzema, we have moved on to Vinicius, Rodrygo and Bellingham. And now also Mbappé.
The Frenchman’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain expired and he moved to Spain on a free transfer (at least as far as his contract is concerned) to try to win his first Champions League title in his career. But what shirt number has Kylian chosen for next season?
Mbappé’s shirt number at Real Madrid
During his career between Monaco, PSG and the French national team, Mbappé has changed shirt numbers numerous times: 29, 10, 11, 14, 17 and 7. Last season he used the number 7, which at Real Madrid is already occupied by Vinicius Jr.
The 10 is already Modric’s, just as the 11 is Rodrygo Goes’s. Last year, Bellingham had opted to take Zinedine Zidane’s 5. Mbappé has also decided to opt for another number, equally significant, made official in these hours by the Madrid club.
Mbappé as Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid
The Frenchman has in fact decided to wear the number 9 shirt, which in the 2023/24 season was not worn by anyone but which previously belonged to his compatriot Karim Benzema. A particular choice that is somewhat reminiscent of Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Portuguese, who arrived at the Bernabeu in 2009, took number 9 because number 7 – his favorite number – belonged to Raul, a Real Madrid legend. Only when the Spanish striker left the club did he finally manage to wear the 7. Mbappé could follow in his footsteps, waiting for Vinicius to release the 7…
