The Venice Biennale has announced that Sigourney Weaver will receive the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement during the next edition of the International Film Festivalwhich will take place from Wednesday 28 August to Saturday 7 September. The decision was made official a short while ago on the Biennale website.
The decision to award the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement to Sigourney Weaver was taken by the Board of Directors of the Biennale, chaired by Pietrangelo Buttafuoco, who endorsed the proposal of the director of the Exhibition, Alberto Barbera.
Here are the words of Sigourney Weaver regarding the recognition he will receive in a few weeks:“I am truly honored to receive the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement from the Venice Biennale. This award is a privilege that I share with all the directors and collaborators I have worked with over the years. I proudly accept this recognition, which also celebrates all those who have contributed to bringing these films to life”The actress, who also had a role in James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of the Water, will be at the Lido to collect the coveted award.
Alberto Barbera he described the choice with these words:“There are few rivals for an actress of the caliber of Sigourney Weaver.
