Brancaleone is a shocked communitywhich today mourns the victims of terrible car accident occurred yesterday on state road 106 in Locri not far from the archaeological park. An entire family lost their lives composed of father, mother and sister, while a fourth passenger, a 19-year-old son of the couple, reportedly suffered fractures and injuries in multiple places on his body and is currently under observation at the Grand Metropolitan Hospital of Reggio Calabria.
On board a Fiat Panda, the four were returning home, in the lower Ionian Reggio area. But along the Moschetta district, near Locri, the small car collided violently and several times against the reinforced concrete wall on the side of the road.
The hypothesis is that the driver was hit by a sudden illness. The Carabinieri’s investigations are coordinated by the Locri Prosecutor’s Office, which ordered the preventive seizure of the vehicle. The mayor of Brancaleone Silvestro Garoffolo announced that the San Pietro fair, scheduled for 27, 28 and 29 June, will not take place, as a sign of respect and participation in the pain of the family and of the entire Brancaleone community. For the day of the funeral, city mourning was proclaimed.
