the average price at the pump is out of control

Despite a slight decline in the prices of refined products in the Mediterranean, there are new increases in the price lists recommended by the major fuel brands.

This trend seems to go against market expectations, generating concern among consumers.

According to the latest survey conducted by Staffetta Quotidiana, Eni announced an increase of one cent per liter for both gasoline and diesel. Similarly, Tamoil recorded an increase of two cents per liter on gasoline.

These variations directly influence the costs incurred by motorists, fueling the debate on fuel price management in Italy.

This complex scenario requires attention from the competent authorities to monitor market dynamics while avoiding negative impacts on end consumers.

Gasoline price increases: a detailed analysis

The national averages of prices charged at the pump show a relatively stable situation. The data communicated by the managers to the Price Observatory of the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy show that self-service petrol stands at 1.857 euros/litre, without significant changes compared to previous findings. The same goes for self-service diesel, the price of which remains unchanged at 1,733 euros/litre. Analyzing the services offered by the companies and the white pumps, we notice a slight difference in the prices charged, with the former generally more expensive than the latter.

The comparison between the costs of the served method compared to self-service is interesting. As regards the petrol served, there was an average price of 1.997 euros/litre compared to 1.857 euros/litre for self-service; a non-negligible difference that pushes many consumers to prefer self-service. The situation is also similar for serviced diesel which has a higher average cost than its self-service counterpart.

In the panorama of alternative fuels a certain stability emerges in the prices charged to the public. The LPG served remains unchanged at 0.706 euros/litre while methane shows a minimal decrease to 1.325 euros/kg. LNG, on the other hand, maintains a stable price both in companies and in white pumps, demonstrating how these fuels can represent valid alternatives from an economic point of view.

Finally analyzing the prices along the Italian motorway arteries are significantly higher than the national average values: self-service petrol reaches 1,951 euros/litre while served petrol reaches up to 2,212 euros/litres; the same thing happens for other types of fuel, highlighting how traveling on Italian motorways involves significantly increased costs for a full tank of fuel.
