Since shortly before 8pm on Wednesday 26 June, firefighters have been operating inside a pharmaceutical company in Via Roveggia in Verona due to a fire in a drying plant: four workers injured.
The fire brigade teams arrived on site, thanks to the overlap of the day and night shift with three fire engines, two fire engines, the ladder truck and the NBCR (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical, Radiological) wagon for a total of 20 operators, assisted by the official on guard, they began firefighting operations.
The four injured workers were assisted by the Suem medical staff, who rushed with 4 ambulances and after initial treatment were transferred to hospital: three for light burns and one for breathing in smoke. The entire company with currently around twenty workers was evacuated. The teams immediately put out the flames and then began a thorough cleaning operation of all the ducts of the intake system which is still in progress.
A nearby gym was also evacuated as the ventilation of the gym sucked smoke from the fire into the premises.
The state and local police, Spisal and ARPAV personnel were on site. The causes of the fire are being investigated by firefighters.
