The effects of the investigation that shocked Liguria at the beginning of May continue. Paolo Signorini, former CEO of Iren investigated in the investigation by the Genoa prosecutor’s office that also involved the governor Giovanni Toti, was fired from the company “for objective just cause”. The board of directors decided this yesterday, “taking into account the investigation conducted by both the Remuneration and Appointments Committee and the Control, Risk and Sustainability Committee”. “The precautionary custody measures taken against Dr. Signorini on 7 May 2024, connected to the ongoing investigations by the Genoa Public Prosecutor’s Office and confirmed even after the requests made by his defense, – reads the note released by Iren – cause an impossibility, now irreversible and no longer just temporary, of exercising his functions as Senior Manager”. As regards the economic elements, “the payment of sums of money in relation to the termination of the fixed-term employment relationship before the expiry of the term is not envisaged”.
The Iren board of directors confirmed the organizational configuration approved in the extraordinary meeting of 7 May: the group is directed and coordinated by the executive president and the executive vice president, to whom the delegations and powers previously assigned to the former managing director have been attributed.

Meanwhile, judicial events continue to have a significant role on the political front as well, marking the stages of unraveling the Gordian knot relating to the future of President Toti. The next step is that of Friday 28 June, when at 5pm, the three regional leaders of the parties that make up the centre-right coalition will arrive at the governor’s house in Ameglia: the deputy and Ligurian coordinator of Fratelli d’Italia Matteo Rosso, the deputy minister and secretary of the Liguria League Edoardo Rixi and the regional coordinator of Forza Italia Carlo Bagnasco. The third and last of the meetings approved by the prosecutor’s office and the investigating judge will be Monday 31 June with the arrival of Maurizio Lupi and Pino Bicchielli, respectively leader and deputy of Noi Moderati.
