Hayao Miyazakione of the greatest animators of all time, has produced cult films such as The enchanted citythe first anime in history to win the Oscar and the box office record Princess Mononoke. After the release in cinemas of The boy and the heron, “The girl who loved Miyazaki”, co-written by Silvia Casini together with Raffaella Fenoglio and Francesco Pasqua, celebrates him with a story of passion, art and determination whose protagonist is Sofia, a girl who dreams of going to Japan to become a manga artist. For the moment, however, she would be content to discover who Pagot is, the mysterious writer who has covered the walls of the small village where he lives with images inspired by the films of his beloved Miyazaki. Between drawings, bike escapes and surprising encounters, Sofia faces her own fears and doubts, learning to believe in herself and in the strength of her talent. A narrative for children aged 12 and over, but also for all fans of anime, love and friendship novels, accompanied by Giulia Tomai’s illustrations.

If there is one thing that is never missing in Miyazaki’s works it is the relationship between characters and food. The filmmaker, who enchanted adults and children with his stories, fully understood that cinema and gastronomy are two very similar worlds, capable of offering unique and indescribable sensory experiences. “La cucina enchantata” (Trenta Editore, 2021), after the success of the first edition, is back in an updated version, with illustrations by Manuel Terriaca and the addition of a final feature film that completes the work of the Japanese director . A book that contains many delicious recipes for all tastes, all offered in three appetizing variations. So let’s get ready to have our mouths watering with the sizzling bacon Howl’s Moving Castle and the Siberia cake The wind picks up: Miyazaki’s dishes await us.
