“God gave me permission to do it”

A church in Mexico is selling pieces of land in Paradise to guarantee life next to God. It is a Christian church of Spanish-Portuguese tradition and its founding prophet claims to have had a meeting with God in which he would have given him permission to sell. The ground it costs 100 dollars per square meter (around 93 euros) and all types of cards are accepted in what at first glance seems like a real fraud. However, the post went viral on social media, especially among TikTok users.

What is the name of the church

Last May 29, the church with the evocative name “Iglesia del Final de los Tiempos – Sede Apostólica” (“Church of the End of Times – Apostolic Seat”) published a Facebook post in which it assures that with the purchase of the land its faithful they can earn their “ascension” to Heaven.

The advertising card

A brochure with the details of the operation is circulating on the internet. It shows a large house on a cloud that emits golden rays with a family underneath with their backs turned and looking at it. On the sides, there are various digital payment options including Visa, Master, Maestro, RuPay, Google Pay and Apple Pay.

The only means to pay would be through apps or a direct link to Paypal which would accept donations.

The probable scam

For the moment there is no evidence of anyone having purchased these lands. It could be a scam from the church itself or the internet, or it could be simple satire. Even his prophet, Andrés De la Barra Sanchez, who calls himself the last prophet of God on Earth, is rather disturbing with his hiding behind a white mask. It would seem more like a sect than a real religious organization.
