The Beethoven Academy, a professional placement program for young European musicians supported by Creative Europe, comes to life from 1st to 7th July at the Cagliari Conservatory of Music.

In the bicentenary of the composition of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony (performed for the first time in 1824 at the Theater am Kärntnertor in Vienna), therefore, the project promoted by the Conservatory of Cagliari with the international orchestra Orchester des Champs Élysées germinates (which deals with the classical repertoire and romantic on original instruments) and the National Opera of Armenia, which will take place in three different moments: a first phase in the island capital, a European tour between December and March 2025 and a second academy in the first week of July next year at the National Opera of Armenia.

From Monday 1st to Sunday 7th July at the Conservatory of Music of Cagliari numerous activities will be held, including masterclasses, open rehearsals, a workshop held by the internationally renowned luthier Eric Blot (Tuesday 2nd), a workshop with Chloe Sustainability, an agency that works promoting a “green” future for creativity, and offering solutions to improve environmental, social and economic sustainability (Friday 5), concerts in private homes, churches and retirement homes. There is also great anticipation for the final concert on Saturday 6 July at 8.30pm in the Conservatory Auditorium (free entry) with the newly formed Nouvelle Odyssée Orchestra, made up of young musicians and teachers, who will perform a repertoire composed of music by four composers intimately linked: Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Joseph Haydn, Franz Krommer and Luigi Cherubini.

Among the teachers involved during the seven days, the musicians of the international orchestra Orchester des Champs Élysées, including Alessandro Moccia (first violin), Corrado Masoni (second violin), Catherine Puig (first viola), Bart Cypers (first horn ) and Georges Barthel (first flute).

Supported by the Creative Europe programme, promoted by the European Commission to support the cultural and audiovisual sectors, the Beethoven Academy aims to safeguard, transmit and promote historically informed instrumental practice on period instruments and to accompany young musicians in the development of their European and international careers.
