Two women died in road accidents in Bettona and Narni

Two women died – June 24, 2024 was a tragic day on the streets of Umbria, with two women losing their lives in two separate accidents. The first accident occurred in the afternoon between Costano and Bettona, causing the death of a 58-year-old Romanian woman and the serious injury of her 61-year-old Italian partner. The car in which they were traveling went off the road and overturned along the road that connects Costano di Bastia Umbra to Passo di Bettona.

Despite the surgery timely of the firefighters of the Assisi team, the woman died on the spot. Her partner, seriously injured, was transported by helicopter to the Santa Maria della Misericordia hospital in Perugia. Authorities are still investigating the causes of the accident.

On the same day, another accident deadly took place in Narni. A 58-year-old local woman, driving a minicar, collided with a tractor unit without a trailer driven by a 47-year-old Italian man. The accident, which occurred along the Strada Statale 3 Flaminia, led to the death of the woman despite the efforts of the 118 rescuers.

According to initial reconstructions, the driver of the tractor vehicle may have lost control of the vehicle due to the road surface made slippery by the rain. This led to the collision with the minicar, which remained stuck between the heavy vehicle and a retaining wall along the road.

These two incidents mark a day black for Umbria and once again raise the issue of road safety in the region. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact causes of both incidents and to identify any preventative measures for the future. Meanwhile, local communities are mourning the loss of two of their townspeople.
