As widely expected, it was the centre-left and centre-right candidates who made it to the ballot. She was defeated in the run-off Margherita Scoccia. The center-right had governed in the capital since 2014 with Andrea Romizi, the first non-left-wing mayor in the republican history of the Municipality of Perugia and secretary of Forza Italia in Umbria. Scoccia comes from her council, where she is councilor for urban planning in Perugia. The candidate is supported by the three parties of the centre-right coalition (Fare Perugia – Forza Italia, Lega and Fratelli d’Italia) and by other civic lists: Progetto Perugia, from which two councilors of Andrea Romizi’s current council come; Perugia Civica, Perugia Amica, Futuro Giovani and Udc – Unione di Centro. The center-right governed not only in Perugia: in Umbria it has been president since 2019 Donatella Tesei of the League, whose mandate expires in November.
