Casette d’Ete, first day without worries: opening in September

SANT’ELPIDIO A MARE First day without any particular worries for the new one traffic in Casette d’Ete. In the morning, as scheduled, transit on the via Cavour bridge was closed, which from the center of the hamlet leads towards the industrial area Brancadoro. The cars passed through it until 9 in the morning, they were the last for an infrastructure that will soon be demolished.

When traffic reopens in September, the new bridge built by the Civil Engineers will be operational. The date to be set on the calendar is next September 20th, unless, as happened due to the interruption that occurred in recent months, it is possible to deliver the work and close the construction site a few days or weeks early.

The budget

«We have not received reports, formal or informal, of particular critical issues – explained the mayor Alessio Pignotti yesterday afternoon -. For the first week of closure there will also be volunteers from our Civil Protection to guard the intersections.” To illustrate the times and methods of the works and alternative roads, last week the municipal administration met the residents of Casette d’Ete in a public meeting convened at the Della Valle auditorium. The alternative routes are the same ones that motorists have become accustomed to. For those arriving from Cascinare, Bivio Cascinare, Castellano or Porto Sant’Elpidio we recommend, from the town of Bivio, to take via Guido Rossa, the entire Santa Croce road, specially asphalted a few months ago, to exit at the roundabout at the beginning of the Mezzina . Residents of Casette d’Ete or the capital can instead take the bus at the traffic lights, where during peak traffic times there will be a local police patrol in case of particularly intense traffic.

The area

Companies in the Brancadoro area have been advised to inform their suppliers to prevent any inconvenience and to differentiate workers’ entry and exit times, especially at 8am. By staggering entries, traffic jams should be avoided. «We installed signs throughout the municipal territory – recalls Mayor Pignotti – we sent an information note by email and briefly and held a public meeting. We do everything possible to limit inconvenience, I ask residents, entrepreneurs and traders for patience and understanding. Today’s sacrifices will lead to fundamental work to improve infrastructure and guarantee greater safety against hydrogeological risk.”

The program

Initially it was hypothesized to limit the closure of the road to a few weeks, because the new bridge would be built off-site and positioned on the pylons at the end. The methods of intervention have undergone a change which will extend the traffic ban for up to three months. The new steel construction will have a single span and two cycle/pedestrian lanes alongside the vehicle lanes.
