Ramo collapses and smashes car

Late yesterday afternoon a potential tragedy was avoided by pure luck in Caserta, along Corso Trieste, in the stretch between Via San Giovanni and Piazza Dante. With no apparent wind, a large branch suddenly fell from a tree, crashing onto the sidewalk in front of a store. Fortunately, there were no injuries, although the branch hit and smashed the windshield of a parked car, belonging to a local shopkeeper.

Intervention by the Authorities
The people present promptly alerted the municipal police, who arrived on site together with the firefighters to carry out surveys and remove the fallen branch. This episode has raised new reflections on the maintenance of trees in the city, a topic already debated in the recent city council.

Urban Green Maintenance Problems
The problem of the lack of maintenance of urban greenery is evident not only in the city center, but also in the suburbs such as the village of Centurano. Here, a frequent green area for residents is neglected, with overgrown vegetation making it difficult to access sidewalks and public amenities such as rides. Tall trees also pose a potential risk to road safety, obstructing drivers’ vision and making parking difficult.

Pedestrian Crossings and Grass Problems
In addition, the pedestrian walkways along Via Eugenio Ruggiero have been invaded by grass, a problem that should be managed by the local urban hygiene company, Isvec. These obstacles not only compromise the safety of pedestrians but also create inconvenience for motorists and residents living in the surrounding condominiums.
