ORBETELLO – Let’s clarify the association born from a group of citizens affected by the floods in 2012 and 2014 is called.
Citizens have promoted a pilot lawsuit on behalf of Fabrizio Bovicelli against the Tuscany Region and the Province of Grosseto for the recognition of their responsibilities in the above-mentioned flood events. The case began in 2017 and concluded with a ruling published in January this year.
The outcome of the sentence was not positive resulting in Bovicelli being sentenced to pay all the court costs which the judge quantified at over 100 thousand euros. «From here – says the association -, the need to create an association that would not leave Bovicelli alone who had filed a lawsuit not only to obtain compensation but also to have the responsibilities of the higher-level bodies recognised».
«Bovicelli – explains the president of the association Let’s clarify, Massimo Bernacchini– he acted in the interest of all the flood victims and for this reason we decided to support him not only in appealing against the decision of the judging panel (appeal presented last February to the Public Water Court of Rome) but also by giving life to our association which, not surprisingly, bears the same name as the case. Let’s clarify things.”
«This is a group of people who have set themselves the aim of raising the funds necessary to pay the costs of the defeat, in case we were to be defeated even on appeal, but also to raise awareness in the community about what has happened since that night in 2012 and on the fact that, according to the sentence, it seems that no one is responsible for what happened both in 2012 and 2014. The association, even before it was officially established, began to build relationships with other organizations in the area (proloco, sports associations , sports centers, businesses, etc.) to raise their awareness and invite them to contribute to achieving the goal that Let’s Clarify has set itself. Two months of activity and discussions with the territory have already led to the first result of fundraising for a sum of 10 thousand euros.”
«We are working hard to set up an awareness campaign: we have already created an access portal for donation activities, a Facebook page, materials to set up collection points (wooden boxes with our logo) for voluntary donations in campsites and in all the activities that will join our cause. We will also be present at the festivals that will take place in the area.”
