Below is what the notary Roberto Orlando writes on his Facebook page:

“Yesterday evening I was a guest of the Fioravante Polito Foundation, with great passion and love directed by the President and founder Davide Polito, who for years has been fighting for the approval of the blood passport in sport. On a beautiful evening, guests of the excellent owner of home to Eustachio De Piano, owner of the Olimpia sports center in Nocera Inferiore, I received an unexpected reward, but precisely for this reason, extremely pleasant.

The Foundation, which has always been linked to the pure values of sport, wanted to reward me for the courage and what today I would define as mad love for Salernitana, which induced me two and a half years ago, in the dramatic days of the Trust, to present the purchase offer of Salernitana, putting everything I had on the plate. That offer was the first to be presented and the only one, besides obviously that of Iervolino who then won it.

That offer was important, because it definitively distanced Lotito from Salerno and induced Iervolino to present one at values significantly lower than those which he wanted to make people believe were mandatory minimums and which were publicly denied and demolished by me on TV and in all the media and which they turned out to be a miserable bluff.

But that offer was important because it came from a true Salerno native, viscerally linked to his city and to the team that represents it, also linked by previous family ties present since the foundation of the club and who symbolically wanted to represent the moral and active closeness of the city and the fans to the fate of their team.

Furthermore, that offer was in line with what had already been attempted about ten years earlier when the assignment of the sporting title depended on the Mayor of Salerno who chose, in my opinion well in that historical context, Mezzaroma and Lotito and the facts then proved that he was right choice.

But most important of all, that offer was preceded, accompanied, followed by public declarations that I would never make a profit from our beloved Salernitana, that I would give it at par to anyone who wanted to invest in the team, without wanting to have any advantage, not only patrimonial, but also of a different type, so to speak, “relational”.

No, on Salernitana, from Salernitano (the capital S is desired), I would never have gained any profit or advantage, indeed I would have lost the costs; my desire, like that of all my fellow fan citizens, was only to continue playing in Serie A, to do ourselves honour, not to have to be ashamed of things that had nothing to do with the values of sport, of passion, of not mortify the joy of those young and old, having chewed bitterness, were living the dream of Serie A.

In short, it was also a reaffirmation of the Salerno spirit compared to the old owners who never missed an opportunity to denigrate and mortify us just because football today escapes the full dynamics of love and passion of the fans towards their hometown team. Well, I’m happy to have done it even though my economic means were absolutely modest compared to those who were there before and those who came after and this demonstration of courage remains with me and I’m happy that someone remembered it today!

And let us always remember that Salerno has a soul, a great soul and no one can mortify it with ridiculous declarations, choices and behaviors which, ultimately, only mortify those who make them. Especially today!”
