Yesterday, in the morning, a large brush fire broke out in the area between Vela di Calatrava and the Tor Vergata Polyclinic, on the southern outskirts of Rome. Firefighters and patrols from Group VI “Delle Torri” of the local police were on site. The firefighters had to fight hard, even with the help of a Canadair and a helicopter, to put out the flames with the support of the Civil Protection and prevent the fire from reaching the homes.

As mentioned, fires have been going on non-stop in Rome for a few days now. On Friday, two fires: the first broke out in the Parish of S. Maria Madre della Misericordia, in via di Donna Olimpia 35 in Rome. Several patrols from the XII Monteverde group of the Local Police of Rome Capital intervened on site with the police who, having noticed the smoke rising inside the building, rushed inside, where about ten people were present, who were helped and quickly released outside, thus making them safe, waiting for the firefighters, who then put out the flames that had developed in one of the internal rooms of the parish.

The second fire broke out on Via Ardeatina in Rome near number 630 and affected a nursery and a car wash. The report of the flames arrived in the early afternoon and the intervention of several fire brigade and civil protection teams was necessary.

The day before, another fire broke out in the afternoon at the gates of Tor San Lorenzo, in the Salzare area, between via Valli di Santa Lucia and via Monti di Cesavero. According to what was explained by the municipality of Ardea, the flames quickly spread to an area of ​​approximately four hectares. Pomezia firefighters, “Airone” civil protection personnel and local police officers were on site. The flames, also due to the weather conditions, reached the former quarry – explains the Municipality – and it was here that the various types of waste present in this area caught fire. A family present in the area was evacuated. The extinguishing operations continued until the night with the recommendation, even on the following day, to keep the windows closed as much as possible and to carefully wash fruit and vegetables grown in the area before consuming them.
