Serious accident on the A4: 12-year-old child with a reserved prognosis. It’s from Ciriè

A 12 year old boy, resident in Varisella, near Ciriè, he is hospitalized with a reserved prognosis at the Regina Margherita hospital in Turin after a serious accident that occurred on the A4 yesterday night. The car, a Volkswagen Up, in which the child was traveling was completely destroyed in a collision with a BMW 116.

The accident occurred shortly before 3 in the morning, when a team of firefighters from the Livorno Ferraris detachment, together with volunteers from the Santhià detachment, intervened on the stretch of the motorway between Borgo d’Ale and Cigliano, in the direction Turin, not far from the Rondissone toll booth. Their task was to provide assistance and make the vehicles involved safe, one of which was powered by methane.

When the rescuers arrived, four of the occupants were already out of the vehicles, while the boy was stuck inside one of the cars. In collaboration with the 118 staff of Santhià and Alice Castello, the child was extracted from the vehicle and stabilized. Subsequently, the doctors decided to transfer him by helicopter to the Regina Margherita hospital in Turin, given the seriousness of his condition.

The prognosis is guarded and the doctors are worried about the head and thoracic trauma he suffered, as well as a fractured femur.

The 54-year-old father, who was behind the wheel and was transported by ambulance, was less serious at the Chivasso hospital. The boy’s mother was unharmed.

The car in which the child was traveling was rear-ended by a 40-year-old man, who remained unharmed and resident in Tronzano, who tested positive for alcohol. Also unharmed passenger who was traveling with him, his age.

This detail casts an even darker shadow over the incident, highlighting a tragic negligence that led to serious consequences.

After providing first aid and securing the vehicles, the firefighters collaborated with the Traffic Police and Highways personnel to investigate the dynamics of the accident and manage traffic. The presence of a methane-powered vehicle required particular attention to avoid further dangers.

The accident caused significant traffic disruption, with the need to temporarily close the road to allow rescue operations and the removal of the vehicles involved. The Traffic Police is now conducting an in-depth investigation to clarify all the details of the accident and ascertain any responsibilities.
