NEWS – The first break arrives immediately for Slovenia, but Italy clings to Bottolo to regain parity at 7-7. But from the first minutes Italy proves to be “fouls”, with many service errors and, in general, not forced, and distracted, while the hosts are dragged by Toncek Stern, until the wrong serve by Bovolenta which closes the first set (19-25). In the second set, Cebulj’s ace, after an error by Caneschi, scores +4 (2-6). But Italy finally seems to find themselves and, point after point, putting pressure on the Slovenians who seem, for a moment, to be suffering, they regain parity at 16-16. But the Azzurri’s attention does not last long, and once again Slovenia takes advantage of it with the usual Stern (21-25). The third set opens again with the Slovenian lead at 1-4 after Porro’s error. Even in this partial, Laurenzano’s save seems to sound the charge for Italy (6-6), but Stalekar’s access with the Azzurri rearguard motionless is a new signal that sums up Italy’s evening (6-9) . The partial, in fact, continues with an irrepressible Stern and an Italy that does not have the means to limit their opponents, resulting in the inevitable defeat.
