The edition of the 5-a-side football tournament “A football for legality”, organized by the Avellino Provincial Command in within the scope of the initiatives for the 250th Anniversary of the Guardia di Finanza, which was joined by representatives of the Carabinieri, the Army, the Penitentiary Police, the State Police, the Fire Brigade and journalists.
The hard-fought final was played between the GdF representative of Sant’Angelo dei Lombardi and the 232nd Army Transmission Regiment, in the presence of the Provincial Commander – Col. Salvatore Minale, directed by Mr. Domenico De Girolamo of the Sec. AIA of Avellino, saw the success of the Altirpine yellow flames only on penalties, after the regulation and extra time had ended with the result of 4 to 4. The penalty kicks also ended in a draw, thanks to the interventions of the two goalkeepers who neutralized one penalty shot each: in the “to the bitter end” phase, Fin’s save was still decisive. TSA Marco Galasso who “hypnotized” the opponent in the decisive 7th penalty.
The victory of the tournament was dedicated to Barbone Vincenzo Wilhelm, “responsible companion” of the team, inspector of the Tenenza of Sant’Angelo dei Lombardi who died prematurely on 4 June.
In the “consolation” final, the State Police got the better of the GdF representative of the Provincial Command, with the result of 6 to 3, winning 3rd place.
The “Discipline” award went to the training of the Penitentiary Police who, in the matches played, did not receive any disciplinary action from the referees.
The tournament, which took place in an atmosphere of friendship, respect and sportsmanship, was applauded by all the participants who hoped for a next edition.
The awards ceremony will take place on June 26th in Avellino, Piazza Libertà, starting from 6.00 pm, on the occasion of the celebration in Irpinia of the 250th anniversary of the foundation of the Corps.
