URBINO Adrenaline and high tensions in Urbino on the eve of the run-off election for the mayor between Maurizio Gambini, who is seeking a third mandate at the helm of the centre-right, and Federico Scaramucci, candidate of the centre-left associated with Maria Fancesca Crespini’s list.
Reporting to the prosecutor’s office
The centre-right coalition announces that it presented a complaint to the judicial authorities yesterday for «an alleged attempt at fraud contained in a voice message sent by a centre-left candidate to a representative of the opposing coalition. It is not our task – we read in the statement – to evaluate the judicial content of what happened, but we can observe that it has a very important political value. It is unacceptable that in the city there are those who try to influence the popular will with behavior like this.”
The reference is to an audio message from Gianluca Carrabs, regional coordinator of Green Europe, who – according to the file resulting from a montage that circulated yesterday – invites a Gambini supporter from the League to send him the photograph of the vote in the run-off for Scaramucci «and you I will free forever, otherwise you will end up like everyone else, I feel sorry for you.”
Laughing tone
The tone is confidential and they laugh. The other, however, doesn’t take it well and tells him to be careful. “Everything is fine with me,” he says, “I’m a friend but this is a way of doing things that I don’t like.”
So Carrabs plays down the drama in reply: «But if I can’t even joke with you, say so, then I’ll step aside. I joke and you get angry, I told you you’d lose.” So, Carrabs claims to his friend that he made Gambini win (at his time) and now makes him lose as well as having proposed Scaramucci’s candidacy.
The complaint filed
In turn, Carrabs announces that he has sued for defamation those he considered a friend, who “stitched” his audio recordings in the square in the presence of other people. «I have already told Scaramucci – he adds -. that I don’t want council positions.”
