Saint Lawrence protagonist at the ADI Design Museum in Milan during the XXVIII edition of the awards ceremony Compasso d’Oro 2024authoritative world design award established by Gio Ponti in 1954, which every year celebrates virtuous projects that combine quality, innovation and cultural impact.
The prestigious recognition was awarded toSP110 by Sanlorenzo, an open coupé that represents a turning point in the yachting sector and perfectly combines the unmistakable Made in Italy design, high performance and attention to sustainability, which are distinctive features of the Italian luxury yachting house. The Compasso d’Oro, in fact, does not simply reward the most widespread or beautiful objects, but those that best represent the idea of Made in Italy designmaking a careful and reasoned selection, which in seventy years of history has awarded just over 370 awards, demonstrating the prestige that the award intends to represent in the world.
Launched in 2022, the revolutionary SP110 confirms Sanlorenzo’s ability to combine tradition and innovation, offering yachts that meet the highest standards design and technology and respond to the growing needs of sustainability in the nautical sector. The extraordinary balance of design, sustainability and performance that can be admired in this model is the result of collaboration with high-profile experts and creatives: Bernardo Zuccon for the external design, Tilli Antonelli for the product development, Marco Arnaboldi for the hull and Piero Lissoni for the interiors.
First of “Smart Performance” range, the SP110 is able to offer high performance with the maximum energy efficiency thanks to the use of fractional propulsion, consisting of three engines. The energy recovery system also includes high-efficiency solar panels and lithium batteries, which allow the functions to be powered hotel industry without the use of generators. The exterior design, curated by Zuccon International Project, presents aerodynamic shapes and a distinctive livery. The interiors, designed by Piero Lissoni, follow a elegant minimalismuse lightened materials such as lava stone and make the most of the large spaces on board, which are designed to favor conviviality and privacywith innovative solutions such as the expanded sun deck and the equipped bow dinette.
And it is precisely because of its cutting-edge characteristics that the international jury, through a scientific selection process, which lasts two years and involves a permanent multidisciplinary observatory of around 150 experts, decided to award the hull The Golden Compass. In fact, as we read in the motivations, the SP110 represents more than just a boat since it “interprets the idea of a houseboat through new proportions, new relationship between transparent and blind surfaces, new living solutions. A boat that renews the production process in a strategic sector, through careful research into factors of construction and use sustainability”.
From 20 June to 15 September 2024 the SP110 model will be exhibited at the ADI Design Museuman institution that since 2021 enhances and spreads the culture of design at a national and international level through the display of the permanent collection and the production of thematic exhibitions with a focus on contemporary design.
