Nightmare night for Roberto Baggio attacked and robbed in his villa

AGI – Roberto Baggio and his family were victims of one home robbery last night while they were watching the Italy-Spain match on TV. Corriere della Sera writes it on its website. The serious attack took place in the former Ballon d’Or winner’s villa in Altavilla Vicentina. Five men entered armed and a scuffle arose with Baggio in which theformer footballer was seriously injured (he was treated in hospital during the night for a wound on his forehead, the newspaper writes). Valuables, jewelery and watches were stolen. The police are investigating.

The manager, fear and fright

“We are receiving extraordinary affection and we would like to thank everyone. Luckily on a physical level I only suffered a few stitches and a few bruises, in addition to the great fear and fright of what happened. But it is something that needs to be overcome.” Thus Roberto Baggio, through his historic manager Vittorio Petrone, after the robbery of the last few hours.

“The investigators are working and we will see what will happen,” added Petrone. The attack took place in his home in Altavilla Vicentina around 10pm, with the former champion being hit in the forehead after trying to defend himself from the ambush.

“Inside the house there are the best possible night-time alarm systems, but as there was still light there were people coming and going and the system was not activated. This episode – concluded Petrone – will lead us to further improve daytime security, to ensure that these things cannot happen again in any way, also because it is not the only case. These events leave enormous wounds, but I am sure that Roberto and his family will overcome this too.”
