Angela De Cosmo, the 35-year-old who was in the car with the 41-year-old convicted felon Lello Capriati, killed that evening in a mafia ambush, leaves prison and is released back into freedom. The woman, arrested on June 5, is accused of illegal possession and carrying of a firearm with the aggravating circumstance of having favored a mafia clan. According to the Bari District Anti-Mafia Directorate, you would have made the gun that Capriati had on him at the time of the ambush disappear. She was released from prison following the decision of the Review Court which accepted the defense’s appeal which insisted on the lack of serious evidence of guilt. The 35-year-old and Capriati, according to the reconstruction of the facts, would have spent time in a B&B in Torre a Mare and on the way back to Bari, around 9.30 pm, traveling along via Morelli e Silvati their car would have been flanked by a motorbike riding two people, one of whom fired several shots which hit and killed Capriati. The woman, who remained unharmed, after continuing her march for a few hundred metres, stopped at a bus stop where there were two girls. She asked for help and when 118 arrived she left after having recovered the weapon from the victim. Capriati died a few moments after arriving at the emergency room of the Bari Polyclinic.
