Let us remember that in recent years the Sirente Velino Regional Natural Park has undertaken a path of valorisation and promotion of its territory, pursuing the important mission of conserving, protecting and sharing the priceless beauty of this natural area. The objective of the Park is to promote a harmonious coexistence between local communities and nature, promoting sustainable and environmentally friendly development. In 2022, the Sirente Velino Park, together with partners engaged in concrete actions, obtained recognition of Phase 1 of the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism (CETS) at the headquarters of the European Parliament in Brussels. This important milestone represents not only a certification, but also a methodological tool that facilitates more effective management of protected areas for the development of sustainable tourism. The European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in fact allows for the creation of synergies between the various actors in the territory, through the involvement of the local community in the Forum and the approval of a Common strategy for sustainable tourism developmentculminating in Action Plan 2022-2026. Looking to the future, the Park is now preparing to implement the CETS Phase 2aimed specifically at local economic operators, such as accommodation facilities and tourism professions. This phase involves the adoption of regulations aimed at socio-economic-environmental improvement, compliance with which will be verified by the Park itself. Operators who adhere to this specification will receive a certification that will attest to their commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly tourism.
