a project to unite Italy through culture kicks off in Gorizia – Nordest24

GORIZIA – Thursday 27 June, at 8.30 pm, in Piazza Sant’Antonio in Gorizia, with the concert Crossing boundariesthe project will start Destination Meeting. Organized by the Kapiti Association and the Lipadusa Musical Cultural Association, the project aims to promote the importance of knowledge and encounters between places and people through a journey that crosses the entire Italian peninsula.

Origin and purpose of the project

The two associations, one from Friuli and the other from Sicily from Lampedusa, previously collaborated on the presentation of the photographic book A rock called Lampedusa of the Friulian Sonia Fattori and Marta Daneluzzi. This collaboration inspired the idea of replicating the experience of the book as an opportunity to meet and discuss with different realities and people both in Italy and abroad. Destination Meeting was therefore born with the intention of underlining the importance of direct encounters with places and people, encouraging a rich and significant cultural dialogue.

A journey that unites Italy

The journey will symbolically unite two ends of our nation, Gorizia and the province of Agrigento, future European and Italian Capitals of Culture. The route will be done on board a camper decorated with the works of the children of Progetto Autism FVG, with appointments and events along the way that will outline the theme of the meeting in all its facets. During the journey, the camper will become a sort of traveling embassy of culture and solidarity, hosting events ranging from music to literature, from theater to visual art.

The inaugural concert in Gorizia

The first event of the project will be the concert in Gorizia, Crossing borders, which will see the participation of over 30 musicians from the Eurythmia Youth Wind Orchestra and the Slovenian Center for Music Education Emil Komel. This event represents an invitation to listen and dialogue through the universal language of music, capable of overcoming cultural and linguistic barriers, demonstrating how everyone’s contribution can enrich everyone. Music, in this context, becomes a tool for union and sharing, capable of creating bridges between the different communities involved.

Events along the way

During the trip, the camper will stop in different cities, organizing cultural events that will involve local communities. Each stop will be an opportunity to explore new forms of meeting and cultural exchange. Among the planned activities there will be artistic workshops, meetings with authors and artists, screenings of films and documentaries, and moments of reflection and debate on current issues and social interest.

The final concert in Lampedusa

At the end of the long journey, on July 11th in Lampedusa, another concert will feature musicians from various parts of Italy. Among the artists present there will be Maestro Paolo Marzocchi, the soprano Sandra Foschiatto and the mezzo soprano Lavinia Bocu, together with the members of the Banda Musicale Lipadusa. This final event will celebrate the meeting between North and South, underlining the importance of cultural diversity as a value and resource for the entire national community.

A supported and sponsored project

The project Destination Meeting it obtained the patronage of the municipalities of Gorizia, Agrigento, Lampedusa and Linosa, as well as the support of various private companies. All planned events will be free to enter, offering a unique opportunity for participation for the public. The support of institutions and private companies testifies to the importance and social and cultural relevance of the project, which aims to build a more united Italy and aware of its riches.
