Beaches on the rise, the cost could rise by 10% in Italy

These holidays risk costing us too much if it is true that the beaches Italians are about to suffer a significant increase in prices. In fact, we are talking about 10% more according to the trends predicted by experts. But what are these increases due to? Of course, it is not difficult to answer this question, in reality everything in our country has increased in recent times, and it is therefore natural that summer destinations also suffer the same treatment. Let’s see in detail what awaits us.

A hot summer

The heat is now upon us and the temperatures is destined to rise further due to the hot prices that await us.

According to experts, the beaches will suffer a 10% increase in prices for some services, while the general cost compared to 2023 will instead be a more contained 5%. The ONF, the national Federconsumatori Observatory, reported the worrying trend and, in collaboration with the Isscon Foundation, monitored prices and compared them with those of last year. The beach services for this 2024 are not short on surprises and there are some things that go up in price while others, surprisingly, go down. Luckily, the upcoming fourteenth will give a breath of fresh air to many workers Italians, in fact it is estimated that a large part of the money will be invested in summer holidays.

In short, we will need substantial help to deal with beach life this year. Here are some prices to get an idea of what awaits us. The prices of sunbeds rise, +8%, while deckchairs increase by 7%. What is most frightening, however, are the new costs reserved for sea attractions, such as canoes and pedal boats. In this case we are even talking about 10% higher costs. Good news however for the season ticket, the cost in fact drops by 2%, good news in a sea of price increases.

Beaches, prices are rising

As we have seen, the price increases are also felt for the summer and the beaches will generally cost around 4% more than last year, considering the services that are increasing and those that will cost a little less.

All-inclusive packages are recommended by experts, which therefore allow you to save a little, given that they offer all the services in a single subscription which therefore manages to make a minimum discount. The increases for the beaches did not go unnoticed by the Federconsumatori experts, who released the following note:

“The tightness of family budgets, combined with the general increases in travel costs, especially with reference to transport, pushes citizens to opt for more economical solutions, such as the shorter use of the beach service: in fact, there are many beaches which offer happy hour or half-day formulas, for those who want to enjoy the convenience of the establishment after 2pm or only in the morning (paying up to half the costs applied for the whole day). There are also other strategies and apps used to save money, which allow you to make equipment available to other people at a discounted price for the period or hours in which you are not present on the beach.”

In short, in addition to the all-inclusive packages already mentioned, Consumer Federation identifies a series of strategies to help consumers in this hot summer.

The key points…

  • increasing trend for beach prices, beach services will cost more;
  • especially canoes and pedal boats increasing, while season tickets surprisingly drop;
  • on average the summer will cost Italians 4% more than last year.
