SASSOCORVARO – Mourning in Sassocorvaro for the death of Fabiola Prosperini, the 44-year-old mother hospitalized for 11 days in intensive care after last June 8th she was trapped for nine minutes inside the car that fell into the sea of port of Lavagna, in the Ligurian East.

The whole family was in the car: with the woman, her husband, Massimiliano Paoli, and their three children, aged 6, 13 and 16. The youngest is still hospitalized in critical conditions at the Gaslini pediatric hospital in Genoa. The news caused a strong emotion in Sassocorvaro as husband and wife are both originally from the Alto Montefeltro area, even though they have lived and worked in Milan in the banking sector for a long time. That Saturday the family had arrived from Milan to Liguria to spend the day at sea aboard a dinghy lent by a friend.

During the maneuver to leave the port car park, however, for reasons still to be clarified, the vehicle driven by the husband started in reverse at high speed, ending up against a service column and then falling into the water. Immediately after the accident, a diver who had witnessed the scene from the dock dived into the sea and managed to save the father and his two teenage sons. The mother and youngest child were instead stuck inside the passenger compartment, waiting for help to arrive.
