Milan, 21 June 2024 – “An amazing mother. She lived for her children, for her family. The pain is excruciating”. Few words, many silences and tears from those who knew Fabiola Prosperinithe 44-year-old Milanese woman who died on Wednesday after eleven days of agony.
The origin of the tragedy dates back to last June 8th when the car with the whole family on board crashed into the sea in the port of Lavagna and the woman remained trapped underwater for nine very long minutes. Together with her the youngest child6 years old, who He remains hospitalized in very serious conditions at the Gaslini pediatric hospital in Genoa. Saved his partner and his two teenage children, a girl and a boy aged 16 and 13, who managed to get out of the cockpit.
“Now, in this moment of extreme suffering, we can only think of the child struggling between life and death” continues those who knew her. Originally from Rome, Fabiola Prosperini would have turned 45 on September 6th. She had graduated, as can be read on her Linkedin profile, in Literature at the University of Urbino, he had lived in Milan for at least 10 years and worked as a manager for an insurance company based in Luxembourg – the city where he lived for years – and operational throughout Europe.
Previously he had also worked for Assicurazioni Generali and for the European Commission. In Milan, according to what Il Giorno reports, he lived in the central area. “A very active, sociable woman, above all a loving mother – add acquaintances –, also very close to the daughter her partner had from a previous relationship”.
The photos posted on Facebook tell of happy moments, birthday parties, holidays. Last summer, the family had decided to adopt a labrador dog black just while he was on holiday. “Mrs Fabiola, her partner and their children had come on holiday to my bed and breakfast Tenuta dei Biondi Ulivi, in Belvedere Marittimo in the province of Cosenza – says Emanuel Biondi – and, when they learned that I also have a labrador kennel, they decided to get one: Leo, who is now about a year and a half old. The news of the lady’s death leaves me speechless. I remember her well, she was friendly and always smiling.”
On the day of the accident the family had arrived in Liguria from Milan to spend the day at sea aboard a dinghy lent by a friend. Once back in port, all five got into the car to go home but during the maneuver to leave the car park, for reasons still to be clarified, the vehicle driven by his companion had started in reverse at high speed, ending up against a column on the dock and then falling into the water. The investigations are ongoing. And messages for Fabiola follow one another on Facebook. “You were the sun, life, pure energy – writes a friend –. You leave so much pain and an unbridgeable void. I hold onto the precious memories and so much nostalgia and sadness”.
