From the staff of the mayor of Recco Carlo Gandolfo
It will take place on Monday 24 June at 9 am in the Municipal Council room of the Town Hall, at the opening of the Celebrations in honor of Saint John the Baptist, co-owner of the Parish of Recco, which will culminate with the celebration at 11 am in the Church, the solemn delivery of the “Recchelino D’Oro” recognition to Don Pasquale Revello, former parish priest of the city.
The members of the Commission chaired by the Mayor Carlo Gandolfo assisted in the specific task by the outgoing President of the City Council Paolo Badalini, was made up of both city councilors and representatives of the categories and city associations: Francesca Aprile, Gian Luca Buccilli, Alice Diena, Andrea Ognio, Alessandro Pellegrini, Ivana Romano and Sergio Siri.
The inclusion of representatives of civil society had been hoped for by everyone in the debate at the head of the Institutional Affairs Commission of the Municipality and this had led to the modification of the current Regulation, approved last March.
“The choice of Don Revello’s candidacy – states the mayor Carlo Gandolfo – taken unanimously by the Commission which met in April this year, immediately before the elections, rewards one of the most authoritative exponents of the Catholic Church of Golfo Paradiso. We confer the highest civic recognition on Don Revello to thank him for the constant closeness shown in recent years to our community, an opportunity that allows us to strengthen and confirm that bond of respect, cordiality and collaboration that unites the Church of Recco to the city institutions and different expressions of social life”.
This is the motivation with which the recognition will be conferred: “For always being involved in the city fabric by helping others and always having a word of comfort and a concrete gesture of support towards those who turned to him, thus obtaining the esteem, the admiration and gratitude of his parishioners”.
Born in Recco on 12 September 1935, ordained a priest on 29 June 1959, Don Pasquale Revello was the owner of the parish church of Santi Giovanni Bono e Battista in Recco from 1991 to 2022. Previously he held a top position at the San Giuseppe Chapel in the populous neighborhood of San Rocco in Recco. Subsequently he was the owner of the parish church of Polanesi and that of San Rocco di Vernazza in the Genoese district of San Martino. During his priestly service, Don Pasquale Revello inspired the birth of numerous voluntary associations, active in the protection of life, in concrete support for disadvantaged people and more generally in the field of youth ministry. Precious and fertile was, and still is, the activity carried out by Don Pasquale Revello at the Opera Papa Benedetto Don Pasquale Revello also carried out teaching activities at the Archbishop’s Seminary and the Buonarroti Professional Institute in Genoa, as well as in the schools of our city. He currently holds the position of parish administrator of the Church of San Martino di Polanesi. In 2006 Don Pasquale Revello was awarded the title of Knight of Merit of the Republic by nomination of President Giorgio Napolitano.
