After that of Latina, the Municipality of Cisterna also decides to proclaim city mourning for the death of Satnam Singh, the 31-year-old laborer of Indian origin killed twice, first victim of a very serious accident at work in which he lost an arm and then barbarically abandoned in front of his home.

He lived in Cisterna Satnam Singh, known to all as Navi, in the hamlet of Castelverde, together with his wife who was with him at the time of the accident and when he was dumped in the street instead of being rescued. After the accident of last Monday 17 June he died yesterday at the San Camillo hospital in Rome.

“We were dismayed by the tragic death of Satnam Singh, the agricultural worker who was barbarically abandoned, like a waste, after the serious accident to his limbs. We decided to hold a citizen’s mourning in Cisterna, since Satnam lived with his family in the Castelverde area, and to become a civil party in the future trial” said mayor Valentino Mantini.

The entire municipal administration, he adds, “adheres to and participates in the demonstration called next Tuesday by the Indian Community of Lazio to say enough to the exploitation of labor which concerns the entire Pontine countryside, so that barbarism like that of which the 31 year old was the victim Indian may never happen again. Gangmastering must be firmly condemned as the inhumanity in which people who have had to leave their land of origin in search of a better future find themselves working and living, which unfortunately Satnam Singh will no longer be able to have”.

“The closeness and support of the entire community of Cisterna goes to his family – concluded the mayor Mantini”.
