In Gaza the hostages’ hours are numbered

After eight months of war in Gaza and fewer and fewer initiatives from the government of Benjamin Netanyahu to achieve the release of the hostages still in the hands of Hamas terrorists, the family members continue to protest. As happens every day, today too the protesters took to the streets throughout Israel with marches and actions to ask the Tel Aviv government to reach an agreement for the immediate release of the people kidnapped by Hamas on 7 October.

According to Israeli media reports, participants in the demonstrations blocked the Ayalon highway in Tel Aviv on the fifth day of the ‘Week of Unrest’. Among the people who are blocking traffic are, among others, Yifat Calderonwhose cousin Ofer Calderon is held hostage, and Shay Mosesgrandson of Gadi Moses.

This is a significantly lower number than the Netanyahu government’s estimates. The data provided to the popular and renowned American newspaper were the mediators who have been engaged in peace negotiations in Cairo for weeks and also an American official who is following the dossier on behalf of the administration of Joe Biden.

Estimate from the Wall Street Journal, which is also based in part on Israeli intelligence data, according to which of the 50 hostages still alive, there are 66 who are already dead, i.e. 25 more than what was publicly declared by Israel. Deaths which, according to the journalistic scoop, were caused by the incessant bombing on the Gaza Strip.
