This morning, around 6.30 am, a team of firefighters from the Cosenza Command, Castrovillari detachment, intervened promptly following a serious road accident which occurred on the southern lane of the A2 Mediterranean Motorway, at kilometer 193. L The accident involved a lorry, which for reasons still under investigation, ended its run against a New Jersey.

The driver of the truck was trapped in the passenger compartment due to the impact. The firefighters, who arrived at the scene of the accident, worked intensely to extract the injured driver from the wreckage of the vehicle. Once freed, the man was immediately entrusted to the care of Suem 118 healthcare personnel, who provided first aid on site. Subsequently, the driver was transferred to a hospital for further medical checks and treatment.

Due to the accident and the resulting rescue operations, the affected section of motorway is currently closed to traffic. The closure will remain in force until the end of the operations necessary to make the area safe and remove the accident vehicle. Motorists are invited to follow alternative routes and pay attention to the instructions provided by the competent authorities.

The causes of the accident are still unknown and are under investigation. Investigators are working to reconstruct the dynamics of the incident and ascertain any responsibilities.
