Crash at 205 km/h

The sentence must be served, possibly with referral to social services. To the 24 year old it was also driving license suspended for two years.

The letter of apology

During the hearing, at which both the defendant and the victim’s wife were present, the 24-year-old presented a letter of apology to Marchetti’s family. The sentence was aggravated by the fact that the young man he was driving at excessive speed and with a blood alcohol level double the legal limit.

The accident

On the night of the accident, the 24-year-old was returning from a club where he had drunk two beers. In addition to the 56-year-old who died, there were others left in the crash five other people were injured, including the victim’s wife and the 24-year-old himself. The car hit by the 24-year-old hit the guardrail and then ended up in the center of the road and then hit two other cars, driven respectively by a 51-year-old from Casteggio and a 21-year-old from Rivanazzano.

The expert opinion of the prosecutor’s consultant, Emanuele Fracasso, confirmed that the BMW was traveling at around 205 kilometers per hour and that the driver he had the accelerator pedal pressed all the way down in the five seconds before the crash. The 24-year-old’s defense justified the fact with a possible fall of sleep.
