Maturity exam underway, first test for 10 thousand Ligurian students

LIGURIA – There are around 11 thousand Ligurian students taking the final exam. First test starting this Wednesday 19 June with the Italian test. In Genoa alone there are 5 thousand. According to data from the Ministry of Education, Liguria is one of the regions where students fail the most in the last year of high school. In first place for those not admitted is Sardinia with 7.4% of students not admitted to the high school leaving exam followed by Valle d’Aosta, Liguria, Tuscany and Sicily. In recent years in Liguria the 100 assigned by the commission have been 10.5%.

Seven tracks divided between text analysis; argumentative text and topical topic. There are Ungaretti with “Pilgrimage” for the analysis of poetry e Pirandello with a piece taken from Quaderni di Serafino Gubbio operator for analyzing prose text. There is also a text taken from “History of Europe” by Galasso who invites graduates to reflect on the atomic bomb 120 years after the birth of the inventor Oppenhaimer. The second tests will start on Thursday 20 June, differing according to the disciplines characterizing the individual study paths. The interview is scheduled for the following Monday; the commissions will listen to 5 candidates per day. In Liguria, in the high schools of Sanremo and Rapallo, the start of the oral exams will start with a few days delay due to the run-offs for the election of mayors.

The first test serves to ascertain mastery of the Italian language and the expressive, logical-linguistic and critical skills of the students. The test has a maximum duration of 6 hours. The ministry makes seven tracks available for all study areas which refer to the artistic, literary, historical, philosophical, scientific, technological, economic and social fields.
