Ancient Egypt, a world shrouded in mystery, the embodiment of the dream of immortality. Starting from 23 October 2024 until 6 April 2025, visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in this fascinating journey towards immortality, inside Palazzo Sarcinelli in Conegliano.
The exhibition “EGYPT. Journey to Immortality” aims to lead visitors on a mysterious and fascinating journey to discover the legends and beliefs that characterized ancient Egypt. This trip will offer not only a detailed historical perspective of ancient Egypt, but will also offer a deeper understanding of the ancient Egyptians’ beliefs and funerary rites.
The works on display, rigorously deluded, come to us exclusively from the Egyptian Museum of Florence, the banner of Italian Egyptology, testimony to the large and exclusive collection housed in the Palace. The exhibition is organized by ARTIKA and CP, in collaboration with the Municipality of Conegliano, under the care of Maria Cristina Guidotti and the project by Contemporanea Progetti.
Through the presentation of more than 100 fascinating artefacts, the exhibition will allow visitors to explore embalming practices, discover the function of grave goods and understand the importance of life after death for the ancient Egyptians. We remind you that among the numerous treasures on display, some were discovered during the expedition led by the legendary Jean-François Champollion, the decipherer of the hieroglyphs, and by Ippolito Rosellini, the father of Italian Egyptology.
The exhibition is divided into five sections, each of which takes into consideration a particular aspect of the journey towards immortality. The first section, for example, focuses on the beginning of this journey, addressing issues such as embalming practices and the importance of funerary objects.
Ancient Egypt was a place where the line between earth and sky, between human and divine blurred. The Egyptians believed in life after death, a concept that permeated all aspects of their existence. Death was seen not as an end, but as a new phase of eternity. This vision is reflected in the rich and complex funerary traditions of the Egyptian people, which will be explored in detail in this memorable exhibition.
EGYPT. Journey to Immortality therefore offers visitors a unique and fascinating experience, a different perspective on ancient Egypt, far from the stereotypes and simplifications too often present in media representations. An unmissable event for all history and culture enthusiasts and for those who wish to learn more about the enigmatic world of ancient Egypt.
The exhibition will be open from 10am to 1pm and from 2pm to 7pm from Wednesday to Friday, while on weekends and holidays the opening will be uninterrupted from 10am to 7pm. The exhibition will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. We remind you that the ticket office will close 30 minutes before the closing time of the exhibition.
