It was way back in 2019 when Koji Igarashi published Bloodstained Ritual of the Nightspiritual heir of the Castlevania series, a title that already from its name wants to recall the atmosphere of the most famous Castlevania Symphony of the Night.
In the past few hours ArtPlay has published a video celebrating the fifth anniversary of Bloodstainedretracing the history of the game: from the Kickstater campaign (capable of achieving enormous success with millions of dollars raised in just a few hours) up to the launch of the game, passing through the debut of the 8-bit spin-off Curse of the Moon and its sequel.
Igarashi then talks about the latest update which introduces new game modes, but at the end he drops the bomb: Bloodstained Ritual of the Night 2 is currently in productiontherefore confirming the existence of a sequel to Bloodstained Ritual of the Night.
There was already talk of Bloodstained Ritual of the Night 2 in 2021 but now official confirmations are arriving regarding the sequel of the game. It would be nice to be able to tell you something more but in reality there are no details of any kind, Igarashi has only confirmed that he will return in the role of game director, for the rest everything is still shrouded in mystery.
For lovers of the Metroidvania genre and Castlevania atmospheres though this is undoubtedly good news.
