An operator on duty on the A27 Mestre-Belluno motorway was hit and killed today by a passing vehicle while he was busy reporting the presence of a broken-down car on the road. The incident occurred between the provinces of Treviso and Belluno, not far from Fadalto, in a northerly direction. The man’s death was immediate; the Suem health workers were only able to confirm his death.
The worker fatally hit today on the A27 Mestre-Belluno was an employee of a contracting company. A note from Autostrade per l’Italia explains this, specifying that traffic on the Vittorio Veneto-Fadalto stretch, towards Belluno, has started to flow normally again. According to the reconstruction, the man was traveling along the route to reach the construction site when he stopped near km 64 + 100 to provide assistance to the driver of a car stopped in the emergency lane. At that time he was hit by a passing lorry. The dynamics of the accident, specifies Autostrade per l’Italia, are being examined by the Traffic Police. The medical emergency services and staff from Autostrade per l’Italia’s ninth Udine section intervened at the site of the accident, where traffic has now resumed normal flow. Investigations by the competent authorities are currently underway.
