TRIESTE (ITALPRESS) – “We are extremely proud to be able to host ‘Confini’, one of the most prestigious exhibitions at European level. A unique event that cannot be replicated, given that it is not one of the many traveling exhibitions that we frequently see, but an initiative of the very high artistic depth that involves the arrival of works from different collections from all over the world. It is an extraordinary event that can be appreciated exclusively in Friuli Venezia Giulia. We believe that this proposal clearly represents how much our Region is investing on the promotion of the territory through art and culture, tools capable of involving the general public for an already epochal event like Go!2025 which will be full of interesting events”. This was stated today in Trieste by the governor of Friuli Venezia Giulia Massimiliano Fedriga during the official presentation of “Confini. From Turner to Monet to Hopper. Canto with variations”, the exhibition included in the calendar of initiatives for Nova Gorica Gorizia European Capital of Culture 2025 and curated by Marco Goldin which will be open to visitors from 11 October 2025 to 12 April 2026 in the totally renovated spaces adapted to international initiatives in the Esedra di Levante of Villa Manin in Passariano di Codroipo.

More than one hundred masterpieces of “Confini”, donated by around forty European and American museums and private collections. The list of 19th and 20th century authors collected in this exhibition is impressive: Hopper, Van Gogh, Monet, Renoir, Cezanne, Degas, Gauguin, Pissarro, Courbet, Munch, Matisse, Modigliani, Segantini, Mondrian, Kiefer, Constable, Friedrich, Bacon, Nolde, Homer, Church, Hodler, de Staël, Rothko, Cole, Gifford, Diebenkorn, Wyeth, Hokusai and Hiroshige. As illustrated by the curator Marco Goldin, this is an obsolete exhibition without shortcuts, the result of a year of work that will continue throughout 2024 and for a good part of 2025. At Villa Manin, immortal works can be appreciated, starting from the contemporary and from how modern man gives meaning to the concept of borders, to the desire to go beyond and seek elsewhere. In the decisive dialogue between art and literature, in this case the borders, in fact, are not barriers but areas of creative contamination, exchanges, new horizons, stimuli, glances, paths that range from the infinitely large of the universe and nature to the secret of own soul. “Nova Gorica Gorizia European Capital of Culture 2025 represents an extraordinary opportunity to affirm a future vision of our Region and to explore border culture, building new dialogues and new cross-border relationships. From this perspective – added the vice-president of Friuli on the sidelines Venezia Giulia with responsibility for Culture Mario Anzil – the great ‘Confini’ exhibition fits perfectly which, thanks to the works of immortal artists, will lead visitors through an absolutely unique experience capable of transmitting pleasure, elevating our lives and giving precious moments of reflection”. The painting “Midday” created by Hopper in 1949 was chosen to present “Borders”. At Villa Manin it will also be possible to come across self-portraits by Cezanne, Gauguin and Van Gogh. Furthermore, two absolute rarities from the immense Dutch painter: the only two paintings that the artist created for his companions in the mental hospital of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence in which he himself was locked up. -photo of the Fvg Region press office- (ITALPRESS). mgg/com 17-Jun-24 15:33 .
